Dark Souls Remastered on PC is back online after 9 months

As of early 2022, the PC servers for a number of Dark Souls titles have been taken down due to a major system exploit that could allow others to remotely access their PC. Following the return of the PC servers for Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls IItheir predecessor is now also back online.

Make the announcement on Twitterthe official Dark Souls account said “Online features for the PC version of #Dark Souls: Remastered has been reactivated. Thank you again for your patience, understanding and support.

As mentioned last time, the original version of Dark Souls – the Prepare to Die Edition – will never have its servers brought back online, with the team explaining “We have determined that we will not be able to support online services for the PC version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition which was released in 2012, due to an aging system. We apologize for the long wait and ask for your understanding in this regard.

The exploit found in the Dark Souls titles was pretty serious, and as frustrating as it may have been for fans of those games, it took time to ensure such an exploit couldn’t happen again. It’s good to see that all three Dark Souls titles are now back online, meaning PC gamers can once again experience these games as intended.
