Oshkosh’s Exclusive Co. building to become furniture store
OSHKOSH – We may not know what impact the loss of Exclusive Co. will have on the music scene in Oshkosh, but at least we know the building won’t stand empty.
Great Estates Furniture announced on Facebook Monday that it will reopen in the record store building, 318 N. Main St., this fall. Landlord Mike Russell shared retail space at 217 N. Main St. for just three months before a snow squall caused catastrophic water damage to much of his inventory and forced tenants to to relocate. Russell is currently involved in a court case regarding this building.
Fortunately, he found a new home for his business.
Great Estates Furniture started in downtown Oshkosh in 2000, before moving to Neenah in 2014, then returning to Oshkosh last fall. The store sells a mix of antiques, real estate and new furniture.
“We are aiming for a late September opening,” the post reads. “We are so excited!”
Russell could not immediately be reached for comment.
Exclusive Co. announced in April that it would close all of its stores this summer. She has since started clearance sales of her wares.
David Peters, the managing director of Exclusive Co. which oversees the Oshkosh location, said he was happy to see someone using the space.
“It’s a big building,” he said.
The Oshkosh store sold out its software, including discs and CDs last Saturday, he said. The other half of the store, which sells audio equipment, is still open. He expects these clearance sales to continue through July.
