A black woman has captured the disturbing moment an Asian beauty product owner rummaged through her pockets during an incident of racial profiling that many of us experience all too often.

“My intuition already told me to go but I guess I needed that experience,” Megane Milan, the model who was profiled, captioned the now-viral video, using the hashtag #livingwhileblack. The video begins to show the Asian woman’s hands inside the model’s coat pockets, before zooming out to show the store cashier calmly walking back to the checkout counter.

“You guys, I was in this store looking, and this lady came to check my pockets,” Milan, who is signed to modeling agencies NTA and MMG, said in the video. “There’s obviously nothing in there,” she adds before exiting the store to show the name and location.

“You didn’t approach anyone else…I was going to spend money with her until she decided to racially profile me,” she added.

“I’m the only black person in the store,” Megan says to the woman who begins to retort. At one point, the woman says, “I’m Asian,” to which Megan replies, “You’re Asian. You are not black.

The woman later said, “I’m sorry. I really don’t care,” at the end of the video.

Since the incident was published, the video has garnered over 7.5,000 likes on Instagram and over 329,000 likes on TikTok. People “bombed” the store — going online and giving the store bad ratings and bad reviews.

“Normally I only buy black and that’s one of the many reasons why,” Milan wrote on TikTok.
